Patients in New York City and Westchester County now have more options for advanced cancer imaging and therapy. East River Medical Imaging, PC (ERMI), an independent diagnostic imaging and radiology group with deep roots in Manhattan and a growing presence in White Plains, has partnered with BAMF RadioNexus to expand access to both new radiopharmaceutical clinical trials and theranostics—a rapidly growing field that combines imaging and treatment to help doctors both find and target certain cancers more precisely. This collaboration also brings new clinical trials to the tri-state region, giving patients opportunities that until now have been limited outside of major hospital systems.

“What we value about the team at East River Medical Imaging is how aligned we all are in helping to make theranostics accessible and affordable as soon as possible,” said the Director of BAMF Health’s Clinical Trials Platform, Dan Rogers. “They, like us, see the incredible potential of theranostics and the impact it’s having on patients’ lives. Together, we can not only accelerate the pace of clinical research but also get potentially life-saving solutions into patients’ hands now.”

“East River Medical Imaging has set the standard for excellence in diagnostic imaging for more than 50 years. With this expansion into clinical trials and theranostics, we are not only embracing the future of medicine—we are bringing it to our patients today,” said Jeena Velzen, Ph.D., Senior Director, Strategic Initiatives – Theranostics, East River Medical Imaging. “This is about transforming what’s possible in care, and ensuring our community has access to the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic options available.”

With locations in Manhattan and in White Plains, ERMI has a long history of innovation. It was the first private practice to install a PET/CT scanner (2001) and this year, it will again lead the way as the first in the tri-state area to install the GE HealthCare StarGuide SPECT/CT scanner, an essential device for theranostics to detect radiopharmaceutical agents. Through these cutting-edge advancements and with its new partnership with BAMF RadioNexus, ERMI will give patients new access to clinical trials from leading pharmaceutical companies—advancing radiopharmaceutical research while opening new treatment options in the community.

“The tri-state area’s high-volume patient care lets us move evidence and access forward at speed,” said Harshad R. Kulkarni, MD, Chief Medical Advisor, BAMF Health. “Partnering with ERMI, which pairs academic-grade imaging with the access and service New Yorkers expect, extends BAMF’s sponsor-ready RadioNexus network across New York. Together we will accelerate study activation, ensure consistent quality, and bring targeted imaging and therapy closer to home.”

As ERMI launches its clinical trials program, BAMF RadioNexus will provide expert guidance in building the site’s infrastructure, streamlining operations while providing regulatory and logistical support, along with training, tools, and oversight. This will enable ERMI to quickly begin exclusive, cutting-edge trials for conditions that impact patients across the region.

“For decades, our priority at East River Imaging has been to provide patients in New York City and the tri-state region with the highest quality diagnostic radiology in a setting that feels accessible and supportive,” said Dr. Douglas DeCorato, Radiologist, East River Medical Imaging. “By adding radiopharmaceutical diagnostics and targeted therapy, we can now offer options for patients facing metastatic cancers, working hand-in-hand with their physicians to improve outcomes and quality of life for our patients.”

The first BAMF RadioNexus trial is expected to launch at East River Imaging by the end of the year. The two organizations also look forward to the potential for further partnership as East River Imaging continues to build its theranostics program.
